  • In your journey to underwater naturalist, the course teaches you about the different major aquatic life groupings and how they interact so that you understand what you observe in the underwater environment. With the PADI Underwater Naturalist Specialty course under your belt, you see the aquatic world differently. You don’t see “fish,” but individual species with distinct strategies for surviving in a complex, interactive ecosystem. You better understand the symbiotic relation ship amongst species.

What do I Need to Start?

  • PADI (Junior) Open Water Divers who are at least 10 years old are eligible to take the Underwater Naturalist Specialty course. Basic Scuba gear required.

What Will you Learn?

Through class discussions and on two scuba dives, you’ll learn:

  • Key differences between the terrestrial and aquatic worlds
  • Major aquatic life groupings, interactions and information that dispels myths
  • Responsible interactions with aquatic life

The first dive of this PADI Specialty Diver course may credit as an Adventure Dive toward your Advanced Open Water Diver certification – ask your instructor about earning credit.
